According to our recent research, the 2018 Member Education and Career Development Report, helping advance their career is the number two benefit of joining an association, as cited by Millennial member survey respondents. Millennials represent 35 percent of the current workforce, making them the largest demographic. Within the next two years, that number is expected to be 50 percent, so meeting their expectations is paramount!

Members look to their associations as a career resource, with 62 percent of new members joining an association within the first five years of their career. Considering they’re joining early in their careers, within this demographic, it’s vital to understand their motivations and what matters to them.

We also found that members want recommendations on learning paths, based primarily on required job skills, certification opportunities, and career stages. When job seekers are presented with these continuing education courses, they’re more likely to visit your association’s education catalog, invest in their continuing education, and have a higher chance at becoming a member – all from the use of your job board.
